General:
Evergreen perennial in dense clumps from a short rhizome.
Leaves:
Broadly diamond-shaped, 5-25 cm long, 3- to 4-pinnate into narrow linear segments, 3-10 mm long, segments of sterile leaves broader than those of fertile leaves.
Notes:
East of the Coast-Cascade Mountains this species is restricted to serpentine rock outcrops.

Habitat / Range

Dry to moist or seepy rock outcrops in the lowland, steppe and montane zones; infrequent in BC south of 54degreeN; disjunct E to PQ and S to WY, UT, NV and CA.
